JUST IN: Nigerian man allegedly killed by South African police officers
South African police officers have been accused of torturing a 35-year-old Nigerian businessman, Clement Ofoma, to death. According to family members of the deceased, about 10 South African police men stormed the shop of the deceased at Springs town, near Johannesburg on Tuesday, September 5th, to arrest him for allegedly trafficking drugs and banned substances.
The deceased who is a native of Obosi, Idemili North local government area of Anambra, denied the allegation and while he was resisting his arrest, the police officers used cellophane bag to cover his face. As he was struggling to breathe, he collapsed and later died in the hospital.
The Nigerian community in South Africa has condemned the killing, an incident which they say has become one too many. Recall that on August 30th, a Nigerian man, Kingsley Ikeri, who is also residing in the country, was allegedly killed by some police officers who accused him of drug trafficking.
