A section of a building at the Gawon Nama residence of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko in Sokoto collapsed on Sunday, October 29. The affected unoccupied building was said to be undergoing renovation as at the time of the incident. According to reports, no loss of life was recorded, while nobody was injured in the incident. Senator Wamakko who inspected the affected section of the building, expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah, describing the incident as an act of God ” The good people of the state should however continue to fervently pray to prevent the recurrence of such incidents,”  Senator Wamakko was quoted as saying.

A rogue mobile police officer has landed in hot soup after being accused of kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl in Anambra state. According to reports, the mobile police officer (MOPOL) identified as Barau Garba allegedly raped the little girl till her privates ruptured. A gang of armed robbers on Thursday attacked a branch of the Skye Bank Plc in Ifon, the headquarters of the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, killing two police officers attached to the bank and went away with an undisclosed huge amount of money. The incident put a halt to social and commercial activities in the town for several minutes as residents living close to the bank ran for safety. The robbery operation was said to have lasted for about 40 minutes. According to an eyewitness, the hoodlums numbering fifteen stormed the premises of the bank at about 3pm and blew up the bullet-proof door of the bank with substance suspected to be dynamite before gaining entrance.  Some of the robbers were said to have engaged the policemen in a gun duel outside the bank while others robbed the bank’s vault. The federal government together with the Ogun State government has converted the family home of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti in Abeokuta, Ogun State into a museum. This was made known by the Minister of information, culture and tourism, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun during a Wednesday visit to the family house located at NEPA Road in Isabo, Abeokuta. The family twin-building which had been abandoned for long has now been named  ‘Heritage Museum and the move will help the government expand the creative industry in Ogun State. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has finally returned the four Super Mushshak aircraft that were loaned to them for the training of its pilots to the Pakistani Government. Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja. He stated that the aircrafts were for the ab-initio flying training of pilots at 401 Flying Training School, Kaduna State, adding that “the disassembled aircraft were loaded aboard cargo aircraft and flown out of NAF Base, Kaduna State on October 23.” “The aircraft were temporarily made available by Pakistan Government at no cost to NAF for training of pilots in December 2016, prior to delivery of 10 trainer aircraft ordered by NAF.” The director explained that NAF used the four Super Mushshak trainer aircraft to train four instructor pilots and graduated 16 ab-initio student pilots, including two female pilots at the 401 Flying Training School in K

A mass burial was held for 120 people allegedly killed by suspected herdsmen over the weekend in Zamfara state. According to Waziri Mohammed, who works with NEMA, the attack was carried out on Saturday in the state, leaving 120 dead and a great number of people injured. Asides human lives, animals were also killed and properties were destroyed during the attack carried out by suspected herdsmen. Members of the community, community leaders, and some security personnel were present at the mass burial, wearing sombre looks. A look at the corpse wrapped in white clothes shows that most of them died in the most gruesome ways as blood stains can be seen on the burial shrouds. Below is how Wazirir reported the incident:

At least six soldiers were killed in heavy fighting when Boko Haram raided a military base and looted food from villagers in northeast Nigeria, the military and locals said on Wednesday. Jihadists in six pick-up trucks stormed the base in Sasawa village, some 45 kilometres (28 miles) from the Yobe state capital, Damaturu, at about 5:00 pm on Tuesday. Colonel Kayode Ogunsanya told AFP from Damaturu: “There was an attack by Boko Haram terrorists on a military location in Sasawa village which led to casualties on both sides.” He gave no further details but a local chief in the area said: “Six soldiers died in the attack along with several Boko Haram fighters. “Heavy fighting broke out and continued till midnight,” he said on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals. “When the gunmen realised they would be subdued, they sent for reinforcements and more fighters arrived in three trucks.” They overran the base, forcing the soldiers to withdraw. Recall earlier today, LIB reported a story of a man who was stripped, beaten and paraded naked for allegedly stealing a Keke in Ibeku in the same Umuahia, Abia State. According to online reports, the owner of the said shirt spotted the suspect walking past wearing it and quickly raised alarm.
